Gin has taken off with the abandon of a brand new discovery and anybody who is anybody wants to be seen with the most rare gin, mixed with an obscure craft tonic and loads of ice - as for the accompaniment it can be anything from a wheel of orange to a slice of celery. Decades of ice and lemon seem a dim and distant memory and as for the history of gin - one can barely imagine the grim route it has taken through the centuries in order to reach its glorious present. Never a dull moment that's for sure!
