The older you get the faster they appear to come around - even if we're none to chipper about the passing years our nearest and dearest will insist on the excuse to celebrate. There are of course the customary rituals and celebrations that attend every birthday celebration. The giving of gifts and cards - the toasting with Champagne and the raucous rendition of Happy Birthday with a misplaced harmony at the end. Then that's it for another year - though fear not - the next is just around the corner!
