MAP OF LANCASHIRE Giclée Print limited edition of 300
Large Map of Lancashire
Or "Proper" Lancashire as I call it is my tribute to the original county that was so cruelly eviscerated in the 1974 boundary changes courtesy of our friends in Whitehall.
I have tried in the past to portray the current guise of Lancashire but where does it begin and where indeed does it end? So I felt it far easier to celebrate the county pre 1974 that stretched from the Mersey to the summit of Wrynose Pass in the Lake District. From the thrum of cotton mills and smoke stacks to the bleating of sheep on Lakeland fells. It was a magisterial land that stood firm against its larger deadly rival across the pennines - the pride is still there but Mersey Side, Greater Manchester and Cumbria doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Long live the Lancashire of old!
